Our Process
Phase 1: Consultation and Discovery
Our process is rooted in developing a deep understanding of client needs through a series of thoughtful conversations that build trust and a shared vision. Every new client relationship begins with a Discovery Call. The goal of this consultation call is to understand your unique design needs, timeline, and investment level. We’ll ask you about your vision, explain more about our process, and discuss how we guide you through your design project. This call is then followed up with an in-person consultation in your space to gather more information for our proposal.
After the consultation, we send you a written proposal outlining the scope of work for your project including our design fees and your overall investment for the project. Our business model is based on a flat fee for the creative portion of your project, combined with a percentage based compensation on furnishings, lighting, window treatments, and/or other design elements – to cover the project oversight and administration phase.
Once we have agreed to work together, we continue our exploration – The discovery phase. This includes:
- Site Visits to gather measurements, photos, and architectural documentation
- Preparing CAD Drawings to translate above into digital medium
- Creating Space Plans
- Meeting with Contractors and Trades
- Determining Budgets
- Creating a Scope of Work.
Phase 2: Conceptual Design
During the Conceptual Design Phase, we establish the aesthetic direction for the project, Several meetings may be needed during this phase, depending on the size of project. This phase includes:
- Reviewing Inspiration images to determine aesthetic preference
- Developing conceptual mood boards
- Creating sketches for key design elements
- Sourcing initial furnishings, finishes, fabrics, and other design elements
- Preliminary Design Presentations of above
Phase 3: Design Development
Once we have established a shared vocabulary and direction, the design process begins in earnest, and our vision for the space is translated in great detail.
This phase includes:
- Detailed design drawings
- Selections for all furnishings, lighting, finishes, materials, and other design elements
- Presentation of final design plan
- Purchasing proposals for all items to be supplied by us for the project
- Creating Material Specifications for trades
Phase 4: Project Implementation
We then move into Project Implementation for your project – namely managing the ordering, delivery, and installation.
This phase includes:
- Submitting orders for all items required for the project being purchased through Caroline Erez Design
- Monitoring status of all orders
- Resolving issues
- Coordinating receiving and delivery with our warehouse
- Determining art and accessories
Finally, our favourite day arrives! We conclude our journey by managing the installation of your completed project and reveal your inspirational new home to you.
