DURAND VICTORIAN

Classical meets Contemporary

Inspired by the glamourous legacy of a former era, this project located in the heart of the Historic Durand Neighbourhood, showcases a contemporary design of a Classic Victorian home.

Designed for a family who love to entertain, the principal rooms of this grand home became the primary focus of the interior redesign. A dramatic palette of deep verdant green, celadon and cream runs through the ground floor, while curvilinear forms emerge throughout, encouraging the sense of connection and flow between the rooms.

Symmetrical layouts emphasize balance with clean-lined contemporary pieces living harmoniously alongside plush custom upholstery, rich metals, and antique pieces. The home’s high ceilings, elaborate plaster work, and intricate moldings provide the ideal backdrop to highlight the couple’s sculpture and art collection.

The children’s bedrooms and corresponding bathroom, again in striking hues, were completed as a secondary project phase, and can be seen below.

The interior design for the children’s bedrooms and bathroom strikes a more playful note, while still influenced by the home’s historic ethos.

A fresh palette of coral, peach and green swathes the little girl’s bedroom, a wonderland of florals and meadow creatures, while grown up furnishings ground the space and ensure it will transition with her while she grows. The son’s bedroom is wrapped in a deep moody blue, crafting a unique otherworldly space in which he can grow and dream.

The graphic bathroom features a punchy wallcovering, a striking marble inlay floor, brass fittings, and touches of blue in the custom vanity and upholstery.

A cozy terry banquette provides the perfect spot for a post-bath moment.
